   By Sheila Edmunds, Village Historian

Across Main Street from the Inn and the market is a two-story brick building erected in 1834. It was the third and last step in E. B. Morgan’s campaign to relocate Aurora’s business district,  previously centered in what is now the vicinity of St. Patrick’s church.  (Dublin Hill Road was then called“Farmers Road” and terminated in a pier at the lake.)  Intended for commercial or professional purposes, the 1834 building has had many owners and been referred to by various names, among them the Aurora Office Building, the Hitchcock House, the Brick Block, and now, for nearly half a century,  “The Fargo,” the village’s favorite watering-hole.
