RESOLUTION NO. 06-30

A Resolution Supporting Senator Charles Schumer’s Plan To Keep Non-local Trucks Out Of Central New York Neighborhoods

December 20, 2006


WHEREAS, the Village of Aurora Board of Trustees, Cayuga County, New York wishes to address  concerns regarding the thousands of non-local trucks that use our central New York local roads as a shortcut to avoid Weight Stations, Tolls and Traffic, the Upstate New York Safety Coalition Task Force is requesting the municipalities in the region pass a resolution supporting Senator Schumer’s Plan.


WHEREAS, the Plan Includes:


1.Permanent routes for trucks which carry hazardous materials ranging from garbage to gasoline, and

2.That the Federal Government require all states to establish routing systems for trucks carrying hazardous materials, and

3.A renewed effort to support the bipartisan Transportation Security Improvement Act (S.1052).


NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Village Board of Trustees of the Village of Aurora, State of New York, County of Cayuga, supports Senator Charles Schumer’s three part plan to eliminate non-local trucks from the neighborhoods of Central New York.
